Chairman of the Almaty Regional Maslikhat Kuat Baigodzhayev, together with Regional Maslikhat members Lazzat Turlashov, Daulet Zharasbayev, and Meruert Moldasheva, paid a working visit to Zhambyl District, where they reviewed the condition of several key facilities in the village of Ulken.

During the visit, the delegation inspected the site designated for the construction of the nuclear power plant. They were briefed on the location of the land allocated for the project, the existing engineering and transport infrastructure, and the preparatory work currently underway. Zhambyl District Akim Nurlan Ertas presented an update on the progress of the strategic project.

The meeting focused on the project's potential impact on the region’s socio-economic development, the creation of new jobs, the modernization of engineering infrastructure, environmental safety, and the protection of residents' interests. The Maslikhat members emphasized that strict compliance with the applicable legislation and ensuring public safety must remain the highest priorities throughout the project's implementation.

As part of the working visit, the deputies also inspected the current condition of the Balkhash-Zhylu thermal power plant in Ulken and reviewed issues related to the village's heat supply.

The delegation also visited the new rural medical outpatient clinic currently under construction. Construction and installation works have now been fully completed. The next stage includes the installation of medical equipment and the completion of commissioning procedures, after which the facility is expected to become operational.

The new healthcare facility, designed to serve up to 45 patients per shift, will improve access to primary healthcare services for the residents of Ulken and enhance the quality of medical care.

During the visit, the Maslikhat members also assessed the condition of the village's social and engineering infrastructure. Ulken is located 343 kilometers from the district center and 360 kilometers from the city of Almaty. The village currently has a population of 1,694 residents.

The meeting also addressed key issues related to water supply, sewerage, electricity and heat supply, road infrastructure, public amenities, and the housing stock. A significant portion of the engineering networks is worn out. Although design and cost documentation has already been prepared for several infrastructure projects, the issue of securing the necessary funding remains unresolved.

The Maslikhat members noted that all issues raised during the visit would be thoroughly reviewed and addressed in cooperation with the relevant government authorities through a phased approach. They also stressed the need for the comprehensive development of Ulken's engineering and social infrastructure, taking into account the region's strategic importance and the implementation of major investment projects.
