The Department of Emergency Situations of the Kegensky district warns residents and guests of the district about the possibility of steppe fires due to non-compliance with basic fire safety requirements. The most fire-hazardous situation develops in late spring and early summer, especially when the weather is dry and hot. The speed of fire propagation can reach 20-30 km/h.
In the steppe it is forbidden:
-throw burning matches, cigarette butts, and shake hot ashes out of smoking pipes;
-use wads made of flammable or smoldering materials when hunting;
-leave behind bottles or glass fragments;
-burn grass, as well as stubble in the fields;
-build fires.
If you are still in the steppe fire zone, then the following recommendations will be useful:
-if the visibility in the smoke zone is less than 10 m. it is forbidden to enter it, as it is dangerous.
-it is forbidden to arrange overnight accommodation in the area of an active fire.
-if there is a threat of a fire front approaching a locality or individual houses, it is necessary to take measures to prevent the fire of buildings; for this purpose, water and sand reserves are created.
Rules of conduct in the center of a fire:
-it is necessary to clear the largest possible area of foliage, grass and branches around you;
-it is necessary to move away from the fire in the windward direction (that is, to go to the wind;
-get rid of combustible and flammable equipment, if possible, periodically wet the dried areas of the material on the clothing;
-cover with a wet cotton-gauze bandage or towel, remove all melting clothing;
If you find a fire starting - for example, a small grass mound or smouldering forest floor near someone's abandoned campfire, try to extinguish it yourself. Sometimes it is enough just to trample the flame (however, you need to wait and make sure that the grass or litter really does not smolder, otherwise the fire may appear again).
Be vigilant! In case of fire, call 101!
