There are 4 livestock breeding farms, 7 farms, and 2 feedlots in the district. There are 11 artificial insemination centers. Kazakhstan's largest crop is wheat, which it exports. It is the sixth largest producer of wheat in the world.Cereals of lesser significance include barley, cotton, sugar beet, sunflower, flax, and rice. Agricultural land in Kazakhstan was depleted of its nutrients during the Soviet-era virgin land development campaign. This continues to affect production today. Kazakh wine is produced in the mountains East of Almaty. In 2011, the country achieved a record grain harvest of 26.9 million tons, which exceeds the previous record of 21 million tons recorded in 2009. In 2012, the Ministry of agriculture of Kazakhstan reduced the crop forecast to 14 million tons due to dry weather.

In 2021, gross agricultural output was produced in the amount of 74.4 billion tenge, which is more than the level of 2020 by 10.2 billion tenge.In the structure of gross production, crop production occupies 51.0%, animal husbandry – 49.0%.Crops of agricultural crops were placed on an area of 28.9 thousand hectares. Grain crops occupy 35.7% of all sown areas.The basis of the specialization of the district is the production of vegetables, including carrots, beets, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage.Animal husbandry is represented by dairy cattle breeding and industrial poultry farming.A steady trend of growth in the number of livestock and poultry, production of livestock products has been achieved.The number of cattle was 40,902 in 2021 or 104.7 by 2020%; accordingly, sheep – 49,951 heads or 109.4%, pigs – 883 heads – 105.1%, horses - 12,246 heads or 115.2%, poultry – 2,002,8 thousand heads or 138.6%.Processing of agricultural products is carried out by more than 25 enterprises. In the district, out of the available 10 medium-sized large processing enterprises, according to quality certificates for compliance with the requirements of the international standard (ISO, HASPP)  there are 1 enterprises operating.
