Wind is one of those natural phenomena affecting the roof that must be taken into account when building any structure. Nevertheless, every year in Kazakhstan there is a failure of the roof on dozens of objects due to wind calculation errors or the lack of completed wind zones directly on the roof, causing considerable material damage and, in some cases, alas, becoming the cause of death of people. Wind load is the wind pressure on a building or its individual element. A little physics: the air flow, hitting the wall of the building, creates vortices. The first part of the flow goes to the foundation of the building, the second-up, towards the roof, and goes around it.
The roof covering is also affected by the pressure inside the building, which can be increased, for example, when the cargo gates of the building are constantly open.
To protect the roof of the building from such situations, it is important:
to perform a competent wind calculation,choose the right roofing material and fastening system.
