"A man without memory is blind and helpless. It's the same with archives. Without them, humanity would not be able to look into the past, understand the present, and build the future."

The network of archival institutions in the region includes the state archive of Almaty region and its 18 district and city branches, and the Taldykorgan state archive.

Almaty regional state archive originates from the regional archive Fund since 1919 with a staff of 4 people. The first head of the Department and regional archive for the analysis of documents was Elizarov whose initials are not established. Analysis of documents shows that the origins of the Almaty regional state archive was Bryzgalov Ivan Lvovich (1859-1935). in April 1919, he was appointed head of the regional archive and at the same time the library and regional Bureau. He played a major role in preserving the archive during the civil war. Archival institutions work in three main areas:

• replenishment of the National archive Fund;
• ensuring the safety of documents;
• use (for scientific, legal purposes, etc.) and publication.

Archival institutions of the region store documents formed in the activities of institutions, organizations, enterprises that exist and existed on the territory of the region, regardless of ownership forms. The staff number of archival institutions today is 165 people, whereas in 1919 the staff consisted of 4 people. In regional archive has 7 departments: Department of work and staffing with departmental archives, the Department of scientific-reference apparatus and documents are used, the division for the provision of public services, Department of state records and preservation of documents, Department of information technology, organization and personnel Department, financial Department. The volume of documents stored in the state archive of the Almaty region and its branches is

 4417 funds, 1 242 824 storage units, including:

2764 funds 870624-storage units-management documentation;

1542-funds 352716 storage units-personnel;

111-funds 7141 storage units-personal origin;

10655-storage units-photos;

30 – storage units-Phono;

1 Fund, 1658 storage units-scientific and technical documentation.

On the basis of archival documents, more than 40,000 state services are issued annually for the region and districts to issue archival certificates of a social and legal nature at the request of citizens and institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, CIS countries, Germany, the United States, Israel, and others, as well as thematic and genealogical characters. 58 % of all requests were fulfilled through the e-government portal. In the framework of the program "Rouhani air" routines "Rouhani Kazyna", head of state Nursultan Nazarbayev with the support of the akim of Almaty region Amandyk Batalov of Gabbasovich in the State archives of Almaty region developed four projects: "Archives talk", "Historical figures", "Annals of the archive" and "Electronic archive" and the article "the Seven faces of the great steppe" part of the Modernization of consciousness of the project "Archive-2025". Archival documents are widely used in mass media publications, photo-documentary exhibitions, and editions of photo-documentary collections. Through the reading rooms of archives, documents are used by researchers from the Republic of Kazakhstan, CIS countries, Germany, the USA, and Japan. Every year, archivists hold round tables, meetings, briefings, seminars, sports events, and others. The archives also prepared a number of TV and radio programs, photo-documentary exhibitions, publications in the media, collections of documents on the history of cities, districts, enterprises and organizations in the region.

Aul – Altyn besigim, Kazakh halқynyң asset, From the history of the deportation of peoples in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan, Reference book on the history of administrative-territorial division of Almaty region, three volumes of city guides, Personal funds, a Brief guide to the history of collective and state farms of Almaty area Zhetysu asalary, Urpakka Uran Bolan Uly Zhenis, "Alash kozgalisi and any Resuly Airedale", "Nerdig Modeg as Zhuldyz".

Interesting and rich documents of personal origin of the academician, major scientist-historian K. Nurpeisov, writers and poets N. Alimkulov, H. Amirov, L. Kylyshev, U. Shalekenov, state and public figures M. Fazylov, I. Baltagulov, G. Yalymov, and others complement the rich and interesting history of our Fatherland. The regional archive has a COM system, equipment for microfilming and creating an insurance Fund of documents that are in state storage in archival institutions of the region. Since 2019, since October, 25 funds of 3192 units have been digitized using the Electronic archive information system, 0.2% of the total volume. The effectiveness of archives is associated with increasing the status that ensures their worthy place in the socio-cultural environment, creating a stable and reliable financial and economic base of activity, and improving the social protection of archivists.

The archive, in the figurative expression of Elbasy, was and will always remain a life-giving spring of historical memory. The main task of archivists is to preserve the documentary heritage of our country. Archivists of our region perform this task largely due to their enthusiasm, selfless work, and loyalty to the profession.
