There are 278 libraries, 26 museums and 2 galleries in Almaty region.

Network of libraries: regional-1, Central-city, district-20, children's -14, city branch libraries – 6, rural-236, library for blind and visually impaired citizens-1.

Strategic priorities of the regional library:

• acquisition of funds and ensuring their safety;
• high-quality library and information services, regular study of reader demand;
• development and implementation of new information technologies;
• participation in national and international information and library projects;

The book collection has more than 5.3 million items. The annual attendance of readers is more than 3.6 thousand, the book output is about 7 million.

The library's business card is the website www.Library.zhetisu.gov.kz, the purpose of which is to organize a single information point of access to the library's electronic resources. The annual virtual visit to the website is more than 20 thousand. Also, there are only 51 coworking centers and 223 clubs. In which literary evenings,games and other events are held that attract the love of reading to young people and teach them to decorative and applied arts.

The regional Museum of local history named after M. Tynyshpayev and its branches, the Museum of applied art named after Usta Darkembay and the historical and cultural center "Atameken" of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan-Elbasy function in Almaty region.

The main activity of museums is to identify, study, store and promote cultural values belonging to the Republic of Kazakhstan, material and historical, artistic, scientific and other cultural values, products of Kazakh craft art, works of applied creativity of different countries.Общий фонд музеев и галереи составляет свыше 63 млн. экспонатов, ежегодно  количество посетителей музеев составляетболее 130 тыс. человек, также проведится свыше 600 лекций, 546 выставок, 818 культурных мероприятий.
