There are 2,363 historical and cultural monuments located on the territory of Almaty region. 1,862-monuments of archeology, 501-monuments of urban planning and architecture. Among them: 4 monuments are included in the list of UNESCO world cultural heritage sites, 12 monuments are included in the list of objects of national significance.

The First volume of the encyclopedia "Sacred Kazakhstan", released within the framework of the project "Sacred geography of Kazakhstan" includes 58 objects of the region, including 17 national monuments, 41 monuments of regional significance of sacred objects.

A special website is available for Internet users (http://mmzhetysu.kz) electronic map of the history and culture memorials of the Almaty region.

In 2019, 144 historical and cultural monuments of the region have QR codes installed, and in 2020, it is planned to install QR codes on 100 monuments.

In 2020, events are planned for the archaeological research of monuments of "Pazyryk culture" in Aksu district, Almaty region. And also, the establishment of security boards on 60 archaeological sites located in the Kerbulak district.
