As of January 1, 2018 in the territory of East Kazakhstan region there are 283 objects of subsoil use, including 101 objects of solid minerals, 4 ones of hydrocarbon material (oil - 1, coal - 3), 22 objects of underground waters, 148 contracts on widespread minerals and 8 ones are not connected with prospecting and mining (tailings storages, ash-disposal areas).
Investment
Investments of subsoil users in the subsoil use sector of East Kazakhstan region in 2017 accounted for KZT325,6 billion, with the annual planned rate of KZT 258,4 billion (development made up 126 %)
Investment for geological exploration amounted to KZT8,7 billion.
In 2017, KZT831,3 million, which is double the sum of 2016, was transferred in the budget of the region for social and economic development of the region and development of the regional infrastructure.

Such enterprises as “Kazzinc” Ltd and “Vostokzvetmet” Ltd mine the basic volume of polymetals from bowels of the earth in East Kazakhstan region.
“Kazzinc” Ltd mines known deposits of polymetallic ores of Leninogorsk and Ziryan ore mining districts.
“Vostokzvetmet” Ltd mines deposits of polymetallic ores Priirtysh ore mining district.
In 2017, the total amount of polymetallic ore mining accounted for 8148,200 tons.
Copper
Since 2015, «KAZ Minerals Aktogay» Ltd has been mining the largest deposit of copper Aktogay.
According to results of 2017, it is mined 26247,536,000 tons of copper ores, including copper - 129818,16 tons.
Gold
The volume of gold mining from gold-bearing ores for 2017 amounted to 5,33 tons.
