The delegation of Kazakhstan is taking part in the Plenary Week of the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism (EAG) being held in India, which marks the 20th anniversary of the organization.
Representatives from EAG member countries, as well as observers, invited countries, and the private sector, are participating in the anniversary event.
The Kazakhstani delegation took part in the meeting of the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs). It is worth noting that the FIU Council coordinates the efforts of member countries in the fight against financial crimes.
In 2024, the Council implemented several key initiatives:
- Developed recommendations to mitigate the risks of money laundering and terrorist financing in the region;
- Improved procedures for information exchange between countries;
- Launched work on establishing an International Risk Assessment Center;
- Discussed measures to prevent youth involvement in crime.
Additionally, the Council supports the adoption of international standards into national systems and assists member countries in improving their ratings during mutual evaluations.
