Industry

The city's industry is represented by mining and manufacturing. Industrial production in Kurchatov for January–March 2026 amounted to 1,351.2 million tenge, an increase of 728.2 million tenge compared to the same period in 2025, with a growth rate of 65.0% and a physical volume index of 90.1%.
The decline in industrial production is due to declining performance in the mining industry. The main reason is the lack of contracts for the sale of fluorspar concentrate at the Kurchatov branch of Ulba Metallurgical Plant JSC (hereinafter referred to as the UMP), which impacted overall production. The volume of production by the Mining and Processing Plant for the specified period amounted to 486.3 million tenge, a decrease of 743.4 million tenge compared to the same period last year. The growth rate was 39.5%, and the volume index was 81.1%.
Manufacturing Industry:
The volume of production in the manufacturing industry for the first three months of 2026 amounted to 222.2 million tenge, an increase of 25.3 million tenge compared to the previous period of 2025. The growth rate was 112.8%, and the volume index was 130.5%.
Investments in Fixed Capital:
The volume of investments in fixed capital for January-March 2026 amounted to 346.1 million tenge, a decrease of 402.0 million tenge compared to the same period last year, the growth rate was 46.3%, and the volume index was 43.9%. Number of active small and medium-sized businesses:
As of April 1, 2026, the number of active SMEs in Kurchatov was 471, a decrease of 82 compared to 2025 (553), representing a growth rate of 85.2%. This decrease in the number of active small and medium-sized businesses in the city is due to the new Tax Code requirements coming into effect on January 1, 2026, and businesses that had not transitioned to a special (simplified) or general tax regime by March 1, 2026, were automatically closed.

What should I do if a grocery store overstates the trade allowance for socially significant food products by more than 15% of the manufacturer's selling price or the wholesale supplier's purchase price?

According to paragraph 1 of Article 9 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Regulation of Trade Activities" dated April 12, 2004, the subject of internal trade (owner) for socially significant food products sets the size of the marginal trade allowance of no more than 15% of the selling price of the manufacturer or the purchase price of the wholesale supplier specified in the contract for the supply of socially significant food products.

If the trade premium exceeds 15%, the buyer can take a picture of the shipping document (waybill), the price of the goods on the shelf, the name of the object of trade (IP / LLP) and contact the Department of Entrepreneurship, Industry and Tourism of the city of Kurchatov with this information.

If the seller, under various pretexts, refuses to provide the purchase price for a socially significant food product, then it is necessary to remind the seller of the 15th paragraph of the Order of the Acting Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 27, 2015 No. 264 "On approval of the Rules of internal Trade", in which the seller, when selling goods, must inform the buyer about the confirmation of compliance goods to the established requirements and submits to the consumer, at his request, the accompanying documents issued by the manufacturer or supplier (seller).
