Migration Service – one of the key areas of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Functions:

• Organizing and implementing cooperation with the authorized bodies of foreign countries and international organizations on issues within its competence;
• Accepting citizens, promptly and fully considering oral and written statements, appeals, and proposals from citizens and officials, and making decisions based on them;
• Developing measures to counter illegal migration in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• Keeping records and registering foreigners and stateless persons;
• Based on the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan's representation, restricting or prohibiting access to certain areas or facilities located in the border zone (belt) during emergencies of a natural or technological nature, border search for violators, repelling armed invasions, or mass crossings of citizens from neighboring states into the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• Interacting with the RSE «Information and production center» of the Ministry on matters related to the issuance of identity documents;
• Maintaining personal records of foreigners permanently residing in the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• Providing assistance, within its competence, to individuals recognized as refugees in obtaining information about relatives residing in their country of origin;
• Ensuring the protection of the rights of asylum seekers and refugees;
• Considering materials on applications from individuals permanently residing in the Republic of Kazakhstan regarding citizenship issues and, together with the necessary documents, forwarding them to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan for consideration;
• Developing and implementing, within its competence, a set of measures for the organization of public services.
