Berik Nogayuly Assylov, born on February 28, 1964, is a native of the Zhambyl Region.
After graduating from S.M. Kirov Secondary School, he served in the Air Defense Forces of the USSR in the city of Kaunas, Republic of Lithuania.
In 1991, he obtained a higher education degree in Law from the S.M. Kirov Kazakh State University.
By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, dated May 6, 2024, he was awarded the class rank of State Counselor of Justice, 1st Class.
For exemplary performance of official duties, contribution to ensuring national security, and protection of constitutional rights and freedoms, he has been awarded:

commendations and a certificate of honor from the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 1997, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2011, 2013, and 2017;

a certificate of honor from the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation in 2015;

departmental medals “For Impeccable Service” of the I, II, and III degrees in 2014.
He is an Honorary Employee of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and has been awarded the badge “Honored Worker of the Prosecutor’s Office.”
By decrees of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, he has been awarded state honors: the medal “For Distinguished Labor” in 2005, the Order of “Dank” (Glory), II degree in 2011, and I degree in 2017, becoming a full recipient of this order. In 2026, he was awarded the Order of “Barys,” I degree.
He has also been awarded jubilee medals, including “10 Years of the Constitution of Kazakhstan,” “20 Years of the Constitution of Kazakhstan,” “30 Years of the Constitution of Kazakhstan,” “20 Years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” “30 Years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” “20 Years of Astana,” “20 Years of the CIS Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General,” “25 Years of the CIS Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General,” “30 Years of the CIS Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General,” “20 Years of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” “25 Years of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” “30 Years of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the medal “For Contribution to the Development of Justice Bodies,” and the badge “Honored Lawyer.”
For exemplary service, he has also been repeatedly awarded departmental medals by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Minister of Defense, the Chairman of the National Security Committee, the Minister for Emergency Situations, and the Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard.
He is married and is raising five children.
He began his professional career as a trainee at the Prosecutor’s Office of the Alatau District of Almaty.
From 1992 to 2001, he held positions as a senior investigator at the Prosecutor’s Office of the Alatau District of Almaty, investigator and senior investigator for particularly important cases at the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Deputy Almaty Aviation Transport Prosecutor, and Head of the Department for Supervision over the Legality of Operational and Investigative Activities at the Prosecutor General’s Office.
From 2001 to 2006, he held senior positions in the Prosecutor’s Office of the South Kazakhstan Region, serving as Prosecutor of the city of Shymkent, Deputy Prosecutor of South Kazakhstan Region, and First Deputy Prosecutor of South Kazakhstan Region.
In 2006, he was appointed West Regional Transport Prosecutor, and later served as Prosecutor of Aktobe Region.
By an Order of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 28, 2010, he was appointed Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From 2011 to 2017, he headed the Prosecutor’s Office of Almaty.
From 2017 to 2019, he led the Prosecutor’s Office of North Kazakhstan Region.
From 2019 to 2022, he served as First Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
By decree of the Head of State dated March 3, 2022, he was appointed Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
