Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Ethiopia

The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia was established in accordance with Decree No. 745 of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 31, 2014.

The Embassy's mandate includes providing comprehensive support for the development of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Ethiopia, as well as several other countries in West, Central, and East Africa (Ghana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Comoros, Seychelles, Somalia and Eritrea). This cooperation spans various sectors, including political and cultural-humanitarian engagement, trade, investment, defense, space, sports, and others.

Furthermore, the Embassy is tasked with fostering collaboration with UNECA, IGAD, and the African Union, to which it is accredited.

The African Union is an international intergovernmental organization comprising 55 African states and is the legal successor to the Organization of African Unity. Its headquarters is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

UNECA is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations. ECA's mandate is to promote the economic and social development of its member states, foster intra-regional integration, and promote international cooperation for Africa's development. Its headquarters is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

IGAD is the intergovernmental body for development in East Africa. It includes countries such as Djibouti, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda. Its headquarters is located in Djibouti.

 

CONSULAR SECTION’S SCHEDULE:

The Consular Section at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia opening hours are daily, from Monday to Friday, except Wednesday (processing documents day), and weekends. According to the law on holidays of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Consular Section does not work on the official Holidays of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 

The consular district includes the following countries:

  1. Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia; 2. Republic of Djibouti; 3. Democratic Republic of the Congo; 4. Federal Republic of Somalia; 5. Republic of Seychelles; 6. Republic of Ghana; 7. State of Eritrea, 8. Union of the Comorros.

Application procedure and documents submission:

  1. Visitor should send an application and copies of documents (in accordance with the requirements) to the e-mail visa-addis@mfa.kzin order to receive consular service.
  2. The applicant should make an appointment with the consul by visa-addis@mfa.kzemail after agreeing on the documents according to the requirements. Personal presence for the interview and submitting of the original documents is required.
  3. You should personally appear at the consular section of the Embassy on the appointment date and time to fill out the documents and undergo an interview.

Reception of visitors - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 09.30 to 12.00, except weekends and holidays of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Wednesday: processing documents.

Please note that the personal presence of applicants is required.

Payment for consular services:

The Embassy of Kazakhstan receives payments to the consular account of the Embassy by the following bank details - Bank name: Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Account name: Kazakhstan Embassy consular Fees, Account number: 1000143251253.

 

Payments for consular services are made only in US dollars.

 

Please pay attention that banks in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia  will be closed on National Holidays: 1) January 7, Ethiopian Christmas Day; 2) January 19, Epiphany/Timkat; 3) March 2, Adwa Victory Day; 4) May 1, International Labor Day; 5) May 28, Derg Downfall Day; 6) September 11, Ethiopian New Year; 7) September 27, The Prophet's Birthday (Tentative Date); 8) September 28, Meskel; 9) December 28, Kulubi Gabriel - Saint Gabriel's Day.

Visa regime of the Republic of Kazakhstan for foreign citizens

List of documents for obtaining a visa of the Republic of Kazakhstan:

 

1) Visa application form with a colour or black and white photograph measuring 3.5 x 4.5 cm;

2) a copy of the formal letter of invitation (visa support) issued via the immigration agency in the Republic of Kazakhstan;

3) Please note that citizens of 48 countries have the right to obtain a single-entry visa to Kazakhstan without a formal letter of invitation (visa support) in the following categories: Service (A3) - duration of stay 90 days; Business (B1) - duration of stay 60 days; Business (B3) - duration of stay 30 days; Private (B10) - duration of stay 90 days; Tourist (B12) - duration of stay 30 days.

- former citizens of Kazakhstan (who have documents confirming their connection with the Republic of Kazakhstan, including a corresponding mark in the column about the place of birth in the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic or in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the national passport, birth certificate or marriage certificate of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic or the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as a certificate of renunciation of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan or loss of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan) – "B10";

- foreigners or stateless persons – "B4", "B5", "B8", "B10" (for funerals or in cases of illness of relatives/friends, family members or parents of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as their legal representatives, family members of ethnic Kazakhs – single entry visa), "B13", "C1", "C2", "C4" (single-entry visa up to 90 days) and "C10".

4) A valid diplomatic, service, foreign passport of a foreign country or other identification document recognized as the Republic of Kazakhstan and granting the right to cross the State Border of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The passport have at least two clean pages;

5) a document confirming a permit for permanent residence, long-term stay for business or investor purposes, employment, education, original and 1 copy;

6) additional documents required to obtain a visa in accordance with Annex 1 (depending on the category of the requested visa). – see here;

7) The original payment documents confirming the payment of the consular fee.

 

 

The consular fee for issuing a visa is:

 

– single entry visa (except for tourist and transit visas) – 80 US dollars;

- 1 year multiple entry visa - (except for tourist and transit visas) - 200 US dollars;

– single-entry tourist visa – 60 US dollars;

- tourist multiple entry visa - 90 US dollars;

– single-entry transit visa – 20 US dollars;

– transit multiple entry visa – 90 US dollars;

 

Please note that in accordance with paragraph 7 of Article 629 of the Tax Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the paid consular fee is non-refundable.

Documents are accepted and issued only upon personal application (for children and citizens recognized by the court as incapable, their legal representatives (parents, guardians, trustees) with the provision of documents confirming the authority to represent).
