Elections

The state electoral bodies that organize the preparation and conduct of elections in the Republic are election commissions. A single system of election commissions is formed:

1) the Central election Commission of the Republic;

2) territorial election commissions;

3) precinct election commissions.

Territorial election commissions are formed by the Central election Commission, and precinct election commissions are formed by the corresponding territorial election commissions.

The composition of election commissions, with the exception of the Central election Commission, is formed by the corresponding maslikhats. The term of office of election commissions is five years.

Members of territorial and precinct election commissions are elected by the corresponding maslikhats on the basis of proposals of political parties.

Each political party has the right to submit one candidate to the relevant election Commission. A political party may submit candidates to the election Commission who are not members of this political party.

Territorial election commissions are regional (cities of Republican significance and the capital of the Republic), district, city, and district election commissions in the city.

Territorial election commissions:

1) ensure the organization and conduct of elections of the President, deputies of Parliament and maslikhats, members of other local self-government bodies;

2) are formed with seven members.

Relevant territorial election Commission:

exercises control over the implementation of election legislation on the territory of an administrative-territorial unit; ensures the preparation and conduct of elections of the President, deputies of Parliament and maslikhats, members of other local self-government bodies. The electoral bodies that organize the preparation and conduct of elections of mayors of rural districts and villages in the corresponding administrative-territorial unit are regional and district election commissions.

Precinct election commissions ensure the organization and conduct of elections of the President, deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament and maslikhats, members of other local self-government bodies at the relevant polling stations.

The corresponding territorial election Commission determines the number of precinct election commissions:from five to seven members if the number of voters in the corresponding polling station is up to two thousand;from seven to eleven members if the number of voters in the corresponding polling station is more than two thousand.
