Countering Terrorism
The authorized state body for the coordination of activities in the field of countering terrorism in the Republic of Kazakhstan is the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which:
1) coordinates the activities of state bodies and local self-government bodies in the field of countering terrorism;
2) exercises control over the implementation by state bodies and local self-government bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan of a set of measures to improve security systems and readiness to neutralize terrorist threats;
3) develops, within the limits of authority, regulatory legal acts in the field of countering terrorism;
4) provides to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan an annual report on the measures taken to counter terrorism, and also carries out current information to the President and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan about terrorist threats;
5) contributes to an increase in the level of anti-terrorist protection of objects vulnerable to terrorism by informing their leaders about the nature and specifics of terrorist threats, developing recommendations on countering terrorism and anti-terrorist protection, conducting practical anti-terrorist exercises at objects vulnerable to terrorism;
6) perform other functions provided for by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
