The enhancement of interaction in scientific, educational, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in the domain of medicine, has been identified as a priority area of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Vatican. A number of bilateral memoranda are currently in force.
In November-December 2024, a Kazakh scientific delegation visited the Vatican and familiarized itself with rare manuscripts and other historical documents of the Apostolic Archive and the Vatican Library. The study of these valuable manuscripts provides a unique opportunity for scholars from Kazakhstan to gain a more profound understanding of the rich history of the Turkic world and Kazakhstan. The establishment of these cooperative ties can be attributed to the formalised agreements between the President of Kazakhstan, K. Tokayev, and the leadership of the Holy See.
A further significant domain of collaboration pertains to the realm of medicine. Notable joint endeavours are underway to operationalise the Memorandum of Understanding between the Kazakh corporate foundation, “University Medical Centre”, and the Paediatric Hospital “Bambino Gesu” at the Vatican. The intention of the parties is to develop cooperation in such areas as genetics, children's orphan diseases, epilepsy and others.
