Obtaining Electronic Digital Signature (EDS) and Individual Identification Number (IIN)

To ensure convenience and access to essential digital services, the official eResidency online platform has been launched. This is a state programme of the Republic of Kazakhstan that enables foreign nationals to obtain a digital identity and an IIN fully online via the following portal: https://eresidency.gov.kz/en

Advantages of applying through eResidency:

remote issuance of a digital ID card and IIN;
access to banking and business opportunities;
no need for a personal visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan or a consular mission.

EDS (Electronic Digital Signature) is used for accessing government services online.

«Individual Identification Number» (IIN) is needed to receive any digital public services in Kazakhstan. Conventionally, this is a unique code in the database of people who have the right to receive public services.

Procedure for Obtaining a EDS for Citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Go to the website of the National Certification Authority of the Republic of Kazakhstan (http://www.pki.gov.kz);
Fill out the application form for obtaining an EDS;
Print the application form and sign it;
Visit the Consulate with the signed application, your identification document (passport), and a copy of the main passport page;
After your application is confirmed at the Consulate, in order to download your EDS, click the «Check request status» section at http://www.pki.gov.kz.

Procedure for obtaining EDS for Foreign Citizens

To obtain an electronic digital signature (EDS), after receiving the Individual Identification Number, the service recipient must:

Go to the website of the National Certification Authority of the Republic of Kazakhstan (http://www.pki.gov.kz);
Fill out the application form for obtaining an EDS;
Print the application form and sign it;
Visit the Consulate with the signed application, your identification document (passport), and a copy of the main passport page;
After your application is confirmed at the Consulate, in order to download your EDS, click the «Check request status» section at http://www.pki.gov.kz.
