Relations between the two countries in the cultural and humanitarian sphere are dynamically developing.
In August 2017, the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.Mukhamediuly and the Rector of the National University of Arts A.Musakhodzhaeva paid a visit to Iran. The Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan held talks with his Iranian counterpart, and also took part in the "Night of Kazakhstan" event, organized to present the country's tourism potential.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Library and Archives of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstani scholars and researchers continue to visit Iran to collect information on the history and culture of Kazakhstan and study rare books and manuscripts.
In recent years, there has been seen intensification of cooperation between prestigious universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Iranian universities.
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Iranian University named after S. Beheshti signed a memorandum of cooperation.
Close cooperation has been established between the Eurasian National University named after L.N Gumilyov and A.Tabatabai University, between Atyrau State University named after H.Dosmukhamedov and the Universities of Mazandaran and Gilan, between South Kazakhstan State University named after M.Auezov and the Islamic University "Azad". They cooperate in the exchange of students and teachers, as well as in conducting special courses.
Currently, seven Kazakhstani students are studying at Iranian universities.
On 26 February 2018 within the framework of the "Spiritual Revival" program, a corner Kazakhstan’s literature and culture was opened at the National Library and Archives of Iran, where about 200 books on history, popular science and fiction have been exhibited.
On 5-8 May 2018 a delegation headed by the rector of the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov E.Sydykov visited the University of A.Tabatabai in Tehran, where an academic and cultural center of the two countries was opened.
On 23-29 April 2019 as part of promoting the study of the historical and cultural heritage of Kazakhstan, Iran was visited by a scientific expedition entitled "In the footsteps of the ancestors" of the International Charitable Foundation named after the national hero S.Nurmagambetov. The members of the expedition visited the historical and cultural sites of the cities of Tabriz, Maragha, Ardabil, Gorgan and Tehran along with their libraries and archives in order to collect information about the history of Kazakhstan.
On 26 Augus – 2 September 2019 representatives of the National Center for Manuscripts and Rare Books of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan paid a visit to Iran where they had meetings with Iranian colleagues on exchange of experience in the preservation and restoration of rare manuscripts.
The practice of arranging press tours of representatives of the Iranian media to Kazakhstan is being continued.
Besides that the exchange of trips of creative teams of the two countries is kept going. One of such trips was done by the “Saryarka” folk music ensemble whose performance was warmly welcomed by the Iranian public.
In 2020, as part of the celebration of the 1150th Anniversary of Al-Farabi and the 175th Anniversary of Abai widely celebrated in Kazakhstan works on promotion of their heritage are being actively done in Iran. As a result of the meetings of Askhat Orazbay – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Iran with R.Ardakani – President of the Iranian Academy of Sciences, N.Lakzai – President of the Academy of Islamic Sciences and Culture and heads of other departments it was agreed to conduct a joint study of Al-Farabi’s heritage. A number of articles of Kazakh researchers about Abay and Farabi and their heritage were translated into Persian, as well as articles by Iranian scientists about Farabi were translated into Kazakh.
