Cultural and humanitarian cooperation

Interaction in the field of culture, art, science and education is a priority area of Kazakh-Mexican cooperation.

Cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Mexico have expanded with the opening of the Kazakh Literature Corner at the Library of Congress of Deputies (Parliament) of Mexico in November 2021.

Since July 2022, the National Museum of the World Cultures of Mexico has permanently housed exhibits of Kazakh national clothing.

In Mexico, there is a club of fans of the work of the famous Kazakh performer Dimash Kudaibergen “Dimash Mexico Dears”, which has more than 8 thousand members.

At the international festival of contemporary cinema “Black Canvas”, held in the Mexican capital in 2022, the Kazakh film “Akyn” was successfully demonstrated. The Embassy provided assistance in providing subtitles for the film in Spanish.

Of mutual interest is the participation of cultural figures from the two countries in various joint events - festivals, concerts and competitions. Thus, the concerts of People's Artist of Kazakhstan Aiman Mussakhojayeva, accompanied by the Mexico State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of the famous Mexican conductor Enrique Batiz, were held in Mexico with great success. The Mexican public enthusiastically appreciated the virtuoso performance and skill of the Kazakh violinist. In addition to the solo concert, Aiman Mussakhojayeva performed at the Cervantino International Festival, which has been held since 1972 and is the most prestigious in Latin America.

In 2022, a number of events were held to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Mexico. In particular, a photo exhibition “Kazakhstan: where Europe meets Asia” was held in Mexico City, which presented more than 20 photographs about the culture, traditions, historical heritage, nature, architecture and modern achievements of our country. The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture of Mexico, the mayor's office of Mexico City, and famous deputies of the Mexican Parliament. The exhibition aroused genuine interest and was demonstrated again in August 2023 in Guadalajara, which is the cultural capital of Mexico and one of the largest tourist centers in Latin America.

With the assistance of the National Museum of the World Cultures of Mexico, the Embassy of Kazakhstan held a presentation of opportunities for foreign students to receive higher education in the Republic of Kazakhstan. In addition, the culture and traditions of the Kazakh people were presented at the event, an exhibition of applied art and a photo exhibition were organized.

Contacts are made through sports. The Kazakhstan youth weightlifting team took part twice in the World Weightlifting Championships, which were held in Mexico in 2022 and 2023.
