Economic cooperation remains one of the main priorities of Kazakhstan-Ukraine relations.
The Interstate Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation works effectively, the 13th meeting of which was held in June 2017 in Nur-Sultan.
Cooperation in the agricultural sector is actively developing. A number of dairy farms in Akmola, Almaty, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan and South Kazakhstan regions work closely with Ukrainian companies that are members of the Ukrainian Milk Producers Association.
A significant impact was received by cooperation in the field of agricultural engineering. Kazakhstani companies have set up joint ventures for the production of agricultural machinery with the participation of Ukrainian enterprises belonging to the League of Machine Builders of Ukraine.
Cooperation in the nuclear industry is progressively developing. In order to meet the needs of Ukrainian NPPs, supplies of uranium products are being carried out, and work is under way to organize cooperation with Ukrainian partners in setting up the production of fuel assemblies.
Cooperation is also developing in the transport sector, in the field of the fuel and energy complex, the implementation of joint space projects, etc.
There has been an increase in the number of Kazakhstan-Ukrainian joint ventures operating, the number of which has reached 950.
According to the results of 2018, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Ukraine amounted to almost $ 1.5 billion.
The main exports to Ukraine are: mineral products (gas, coal) - 78.5%, ferrous metals (zinc, rolled products, ferroalloys) - 8.9%, products of the chemical industry (fertilizers, sulfates, ethers) - 4% and tons .d
Imports from Ukraine: ready products of animal and vegetable origin (malt extract, chilled meat, milk, cheese, butter, cereals, confectionery) - 37%, chemical products (medicines) - 5.5%, machinery, equipment, machinery (turbines, pumps, cars, spare parts) - 16.5%, paper products (wallpaper) - 1.2%, etc.
