Provision of Financial Assistance under the Program “Representation of the Interests of the Republic of Kazakhstan Abroad”

A difficult situation is understood as circumstances arising from:

• force majeure circumstances;
• illegal entry of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan into a foreign state;
• unlawful acts directed against the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• cases of health deterioration and unexpected death of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan abroad.

Types of financial assistance include coverage of expenses for:

• reimbursement of transport costs from a foreign state to the Republic of Kazakhstan (not exceeding the cost of an economy class airline ticket);
• reimbursement of interpreter services (not exceeding an amount equivalent to 15 USD per day);
• reimbursement of lawyer services (not exceeding an amount equivalent to 45 USD per day);
• one-time material assistance for:

meals (not exceeding an amount equivalent to 80 USD per day); accommodation (not exceeding an amount equivalent to 200 USD per day);

purchase of essential items in case of their absence (not exceeding an amount equivalent to 280 USD);

• expenses for sending baggage, processing "Cargo 200" (coffins and urns with the ashes of deceased citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan for shipment to the Republic of Kazakhstan) with payment of expenses for embalming, body storage in a mortuary, or burial in the host country.

Provision of financial assistance shall be denied in the following cases:

• submission of knowingly false information by the applicant;
• presence of documented facts of violation of the host country's laws by a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan which caused the difficult situation;
• an incident that occurred due to the fault of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan (including while under the influence of alcohol or drugs);
• revelation of facts confirming that the citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan placed themselves in a difficult situation voluntarily, being aware of the potential risks.
