Cooperation with the State of Mato Grosso do Sul is increasing

Campo Grande, December 13, 2023 - During working trip to the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Kazakhstan's Ambassador Bolat Nussupov met with a group of deputies of the regional Parliament, as well as the Mayor of the state capital, Mrs. Adriane Lopes.

The talks agenda included issues related to development of trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the expansion of academic exchange between universities, as well as the establishment of partnerships between the regions of the two countries.

According to the parties opinion, the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in the state of Mato Grosso de Sul will contribute to the expansion of cooperation in these areas. At the meeting with parliamentarians Ambassador of Kazakhstan informed about the events of political life of Kazakhstan and the results of socio-economic development of the country.

In particular, the main emphasis was made on the constitutional reforms of President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev on the formula "Strong President - influential Parliament - accountable Government" and the September Address to the nation of Kazakhstan "Economic Course of Fair Kazakhstan", in which the Head of our state defined the principles of the new country’s economic course. At the same time, the Ambassador informed the deputies about the Presidential Decree on increasing the work efficiency on attracting investments into the economy of the country, as well as the created National Council on attracting investments.

In this context, B. Nussupov called the business community of the state to more actively explore the market of Kazakhstan, taking into account the strategic location, as well as to develop trade and investment cooperation.

At the meeting with the Mayor of Campo Grandi Adriana Lopez, the parties discussed the possibilities of increasing cooperation in the field of economy, culture and education between the capital of the state and one of the regions of Kazakhstan at the partners level. The Mayor welcomed the appointment of a well-known businessman in the state Alipio Oliveira as Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan and expressed confidence that his experience and authority will serve to strengthening of cooperation between the regions of the two countries.

Mato Grosso do Sul is a large state in the southwest of Brazil. The economy is heavily oriented towards agriculture and cattle breeding. The state is the leading producer of soybeans and beef in the country. The service sector is also the largest component of GDP, followed by the industrial sector. The state is implementing a large-scale transportation and logistics project to build a transportation highway from Brazil to the Pacific coast.
