In 2020, the level of trade turnover amounted to 127.9 million US dollars (exports - 76.6 million dollars, imports - 51.3 million dollars) with a decrease of 12.4% compared to 2019 (146 million .USD).
According to the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the end of 2021, the trade turnover between the Republic of Kazakhstan and TM amounted to 254.3 million US dollars (export - 211.5 million dollars, import - 42.8 million dollars), which is 98.8 % higher than in 2020. Export compared to last year for the same period increased by 180.6%, imports decreased by 16.6%.
At the end of 2022, the level of trade turnover amounted to $438.2 million (exports - $340.2 million, imports - $98 million), almost doubling compared to 2021.
In January-March 2023, the volume of mutual trade amounted to USD 110.5 million (export - USD 90.6 million, import - USD 19.9 million), an increase of 6% compared to the same period in 2022.
The main export items of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan: grain, flour, ferrous metals; chemical and mineral fertilizers, non-metallic ores. Import to Kazakhstan: citrus fruits, tomatoes, mineral, chemical and textile products.
On December 25, 2020, the second meeting of the Working Group on increasing mutual trade and expanding the range of goods supplied was held.
On August 6, 2021, the Avaza tourist zone (Turkmenbashi) hosted the Economic Forum of Central Asia, within the framework of which an Agreement on cooperation in the field of facilitating the organization of liner and container traffic between JSC "NC "Aktau Commercial Sea Port" and the Turkmenbashi International Maritime port, as well as the Memorandum of Cooperation in international multimodal cargo transportation between OAO "Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan" and JSC "KTZ Express".
On August 27, 2021, a Kazakh delegation headed by the Akim of Nur-Sultan A. Kulginov visited Ashgabat, within the framework of which negotiations were held with the Hyakim of Ashgabat R. Gandymov on cooperation between the capitals of the two states in the field of urban planning, architecture, development of urban infrastructure using modern technologies.
On October 24, 2021, within the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K. Tokayev to Turkmenistan, bilateral negotiations were held between the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan B. Sultanov with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers TM Ch. Gylydzhov and the Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations TM O. Gurbannazarov.
On November 28, 2021, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Mamin paid a working visit to Ashgabat to participate in the 15th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization. During the visit, he met with the President of Turkmenistan G. Berdimuhamedov, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers S. Berdimuhamedov and Sh. Abdrakhmanov.
On December 20, 2021, a working visit of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan R. Sklyar to Ashgabat took place to participate in the 11th meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Kazakh-Turkmen Commission on economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation (IGC), within the framework of which meetings were held with the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan S. Berdimuhamedov and Ch. Gylydzhov.
On February 12, 2022, a government delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan headed by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan R. Sklyar visited the city of Ashgabat, within the framework of meetings with the President of Turkmenistan G. Berdimuhamedov, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan S. Berdimuhamedov, Sh. Abdrakhmanov and Ch. Gylydzhov.
On August 15-16, 2022, the Embassy organized a visit of the Kazakh delegation headed by the Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Idyrysov to participate in the Ministerial Transport Conference for Landlocked Developing Countries, as well as in the second meeting of the Coordinating Council "Ashgabat Agreement", held in the city of Turkmenbashi in the NTZ "Avaza".
On August 19, 2022, the Embassy organized a visit of the delegation of JSC "NC "QazaqGaz" headed by the Chairman of the Board S. Zharkeshov to Ashgabat, during which negotiations were held with the leadership of the State Concern "Turkmengaz" on the supply of Turkmen gas to the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as further development and strengthening cooperation between national gas companies.
On October 15, 2022, within the framework of the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan S. Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Comprehensive Cooperation Program between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of Turkmenistan for 2022-2024, the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Finance of Turkmenistan, the Memorandum of Understanding were signed on cooperation between the Foreign Trade Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken" and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and the Memorandum of Understanding between The Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State Concern "Türkmenhimiýa" on cooperation in the field of chemical industry values.
