Monument to Zhaugash batyr

A special place in the Kazakh history is occupied by Zhaugash Kyrbasuly, who was the commander, confidant and ambassador of the great khan of the entire Kazakh army of Abylai Khan.

Zhaugash Kyrbasuly came from the Koralas clan of the Botbay clan, which is part of the Great Hundred. Abylai Khan highly appreciated his courage and called him "The Wounded Tiger".

At the age of 15, the warrior went to Abylai Sultan in Arka, after the murder of the noyan, who was extremely insulting and despotic during the time of the Dzungar invaders.

He was born in 1733 on the Aksu River in the Karasai and Ileisk districts of the Almaty region. The first name that Azan called was Zhaugashti. His mother spoiled Konyrbike and became a warrior.

His father, Kyrbas, participated in a number of battles with the Dzungars in the first half of the 18th century, was a captain in the army of Samen-batyr, who led the Botbai army in the Anyarakai battle. At the age of 15, the warrior mounted a horse, set off from Alatau to Arka on the way to the freedom of the country with his comrades Karpyk and Maylybay and joined the army of Abylay Khan.

In 1751-1753, Zhaugash carefully carried out a number of instructions of Abylai Khan and became one of his reliable companions. In 1754-1756, he led the special military army of Abylai Khan. In 1756, Abylai Khan was wounded in a battle with the Chinese, and the enemy saved him from the battlefield. This is Zhaugash batyr, whom Abylai Khan sang in Bukhar Zhyrau's verses: "Even if I look, I won't find it, Zhaugashzhan, a brave boy like you." He was also an ambassador in charge of managing relations with China. In the same year (1756), the Chinese general Khadakh sent a war hero who fell into his hands to conclude an agreement with Abylai Khan. In 1771-1774, Zhaugash-batyr took part in the settlement of conflicts with the Kyrgyz. The son of the Kyrgyz, Momokhan Batyr and Zhaiyl Batyr, stood up for Iteke, saved him from the death sentence passed by Abylai Khan, and contributed to the preservation of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz brotherhood. The sacred banner of victory, which was entrusted to Zhaugash-batyr, who remained with Abylai-khan until the end of his life and was considered an unshakable support, and which he raised in the wars against the Dzhungars, is kept in the hands of the descendants of the batyr to this day. His body was buried in the mausoleum of Khoja Akhmet Yasawi in Turkestan, on the Aksaray side of the corridor, next to Abylai Khan. The village of Papanin in the Merkinsky district of the Zhambyl region was named Zhaugash batyr.

He is an educated negotiator, made a special contribution to the agreement of the Kazakh Khanate with China in 1756-58. and effective ending of the conflict with the Kirghiz in 1770-1774. At the special invitation of Abylai Khan, Zhaugash again went to Arka at the end of the 70s. When the khan moved his horde to Turkestan, Tileuber became its defender along with the batyrs of Burge. The enemy was true to his word, true to his friends, and just, no matter the situation. This is evidenced by the fact that Sadyr, the enemy who fought with them, begged the khan not to kill one of his children because of his long friendship. Abylai Khan also appreciates his loyalty to his friend. Warrior hero dies natural death at age 49
