Interactive workshop «Children of the Blockade»

In the ЕКR Museum-Reserve, for the 80th anniversary of the Victory and the Day of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad, an interactive workshop «Children of the Blockade» was held for students of Gymnasium No. 38 named after Lev Gumilyov. During the event, students learned stories about the everyday life of young residents of besieged Leningrad, told with the help of modern multimedia, heard stories told by children who lived in the besieged city, saw documentary photographs and works of art from the collection of museums in Kazakhstan and the CIS countries, including drawings created by young artists in besieged Leningrad.

The culmination of the interactive workshop were models of the medal «For the Defense of Leningrad», which many schoolchildren of the besieged city were awarded, made by the students of the gymnasium with their own hands. Speaking about the blockade, I would like to convey to the current generation that heroism is not only under enemy fire, it is in every Leningrader, young and old, who contributed to the liberation of the city.

In our region, there are six Leningrad blockade survivors. One of the oldest blockade veterans is Nina Vasilyevna Mitetskaya, who lives in the Glubokovsky district, in the village of Praporshchikovo, and celebrated her 103rd birthday at the end of last year.

The event was held in an educational, historical and creative atmosphere.
