"Three Pillars of Kazakh Literature": Republican Online Forum

2024 marks the 130th anniversary of the birth of the three pillars of Kazakh literature - Ilyas Zhansugurov, Saken Seifullin and Beimbet Mailin.

The republican online forum, which took place on November 15 on the Zoom platform in the regional library named after A.S. Pushkin, is dedicated to three powerful representatives of the Kazakh art of words, their sparkling talent and tragic fates.

The online forum was attended by authoritative Kazakhstani scientists: Rakhimov Berik Serikbayuly, Doctor of Philology, Professor, responsible secretary of the encyclopedia "Saken Seyfullin"; Smagulov Zhandos Kozhakhmetuly, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Kazakh Literature of the International Academy of Informatization; Absemetov Marat Oralbayuly, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Director of the Saken Seyfullin Museum; Zhauynbayeva Nurgul Kyzyrkhankyzy, Head of the Literary Museum of I. Zhansugurov; Kasenov Saken Tokanuly, Candidate of Philology (PhD), Associate Professor of the Higher School of Humanities of the S. Amanzholov Higher School of Culture and Arts and other representatives of the creative and scientific-pedagogical intelligentsia of Kazakhstan.

Participants of the foresight forum presented literary studies and thematic reports devoted to the study of the life, work and public activities of Ilyas Zhansugurov, Saken Seifullin and Beimbet Mailin; discussed artistic discoveries, new methods and styles that these masters of the artistic word brought to Kazakh literature; answered questions from the audience.

The main focus of the forum was not only on the study of the literary achievements of these authors, but also on the discussion of their social role in the most difficult period of the history of Kazakhstan. The lecturers emphasized the importance of their work in the context of national revival, the struggle for independence and national identity, and also touched upon tragic moments in the biographies of these individuals associated with political repression.
