Independence Day of Kazakhstan is the main national holiday of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This holiday is celebrated in Kazakhstan annually on December 16.
The date for the “Independence Day of Kazakhstan” was not chosen by chance. On December 16, 1991, the Supreme Council of Kazakhstan adopted a law on the independence and state sovereignty of the Republic. After the collapse of the USSR, the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic became the last of the union in the post-Soviet space to proclaim its state sovereignty.
