Within the territory of border administrative-territorial units, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan establishes a border zone in which the border regime operates.
Border regime is an established procedure for entry, temporary stay, residence or movement, for holding social, political, cultural or other events in the border zone.
The main purpose of the border regime is to ensure the established order in the border zone by creating the necessary conditions for the protection of the State Border.
At the entrances to the border zone, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan shall install road (information) signs.
In the border zone of the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the manner prescribed by the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan, land strips (plots) are allocated for permanent use free of charge, which are used for the arrangement and maintenance of engineering structures and barriers, communications, checkpoints and other infrastructure facilities of the State border.
According to the submissions of local executive bodies, agreed with the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a list of border territories included in the border zone is established, where the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan may exclude or suspend certain regime restrictions.
Control of the border regime is carried out by the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
