Kazakhstan's Minister of Internal Affairs, Yerzhan Sadenov, during a government meeting recently outlined enhanced safety measures for tourists.
Specialized tourist police units are now operating in popular tourist areas. These officers are proficient in foreign languages and are deployed at key attractions and national parks. Their role is to maintain order and offer consultations to visitors.
Tourist sites are also being equipped with CCTV surveillance and panic buttons.
The Ministry is actively cracking down on illegal private transportation services and consistently conducting operative-preventative operations. They're also providing assistance to transit drivers.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs is working closely with the Ministry of Tourism to ensure the integrity of tour operators. They're also collaborating with the Ministry of Emergency Situations on safety along tourist routes.
"We'll continue our efforts to raise the level of service, security, and legal protection for foreign visitors to Kazakhstan," Yerzhan Sadenov emphasized.
Kazakhstan's Minister of Internal Affairs, Yerzhan Sadenov, recently participated in the "TeenAccounts" forum held at M. Narikbayev University.
The central topic of the event was online safety for teenagers. The discussion brought together leadership from Meta (the company behind platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp) and digital protection experts.
During his address, the Minister emphasized that safeguarding children and teenagers online is a top priority for the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He highlighted the growing risks associated with cyberbullying, access to harmful content, and the involvement of minors in illegal activities.
On the sidelines of the forum, Minister held a bilateral meeting with Simon Milner, Meta's Vice President for Government Relations.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted the increasing use of digital technologies by criminals for illegal goals — for internet fraud, drug trafficking, dissemination of pornographic materials, and other illicit information.
Simon Milner expressed support for Kazakhstan's proposals to establish a direct communication channel, form a working group, and launch educational campaigns aimed at improving users' legal and financial literacy.
Both parties affirmed their readiness to develop a sustainable partnership in the realm of digital security and protecting users from online threats.
An intergovernmental Agreement on Readmission between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Italian Republic was signed in Astana.
The document was concluded within the framework of the official visit of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, and her meeting with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The Agreement is aimed at simplifying and accelerating the procedure for the return of citizens of both countries to their homeland in case of their violation of the conditions of stay. In particular, it provides for:
The Ministries of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan and Italy are responsible for the implementation of the document. The agreement on the preparation of this Agreement was reached during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Italy in January 2024.
Kazakhstan already has similar agreements in force with 21 states. The new document will become an additional instrument for protecting the rights of citizens and a confirmation of the high level of trust between the two countries.
In the Moiynkum district of Zhambyl Region, a tourist from China lost her personal documents while stopping for lunch. Patrol officers on duty in the area quickly located the items and promptly began searching for the owner.
The officers were able to catch up with the tourist and personally returned her documents. They also helped refuel her vehicle and saw her off with warm wishes for a safe journey.
The tourist expressed sincere gratitude for the assistance and care she received, praising the professionalism and kindness of the Kazakhstani police. She later shared a video on social media, thanking the officers and noting that their attentiveness left a lasting impression.
Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov paid a working visit to the French Republic and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, where he held a series of bilateral meetings with the leadership of European and international police structures. The discussions focused on developing cooperation in the field of security and countering new challenges and threats.
In Paris, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs held talks with the French Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, during which they reviewed the state of interaction within the framework of the Agreement on Combating Crime, which has been in effect since 2009.
Particular emphasis was placed on issues of readmission and information exchange in the area of migration control. Mutual readiness to implement the Readmission Agreement, signed last year, was confirmed. The French side expressed its willingness to support the procedure for simplifying the visa regime for citizens of Kazakhstan by the countries of the European Union.
Following the bilateral meeting, the parties signed a Road Map to strengthen cooperation in the fight against crime, including transnational organized crime, drug crime, illegal migration, extremism, and internet fraud.
The Kazakh delegation also familiarized itself with the activities of the operational center of the city of Paris, the Special Intervention Unit, and the cyber center of the French Ministry of Internal Affairs.
During the visit to Lyon, the Minister met with the Secretary General of Interpol, Valdecy Urquiza. They discussed areas of practical cooperation, primarily in the field of international search, combating fraud and cybercrime. Issues of improving interaction mechanisms and expanding access to new databases of the organization were touched upon.
The Secretary General of Interpol noted the high level of efficiency of the work of the Kazakh National Central Bureau of Interpol under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Furthermore, in The Hague, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan met with the Deputy Executive Director of Europol, Andrei Linta. They discussed prospects for cooperation in countering cybercrime, extremism, and illegal migration, as well as issues of information exchange through Europol channels.
An agreement was reached to initiate the process of developing an Operational Agreement between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Europol, which will open a new level of interaction with the police structures of EU member states.
The Mentoring Council operates not only within the Ministry of Internal Affairs but also in all regional police departments. A total of 65 councils have been established across the country. Last year, 821 meetings were held with the participation of service veterans, and 207 meetings have already been organized this year.
These sessions focus on improving the activities of law enforcement agencies, providing methodological and practical assistance, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. The Ministry upholds generational continuity, paying special attention to schoolchildren. As part of this initiative, 125 "Zhas Sakhshy" police classes have been opened in 103 schools across the country, enrolling more than two thousand students. Additionally, 291 initial military training rooms are in operation.
Министерством внутренних дел продолжается работа по обнаружению и изъятию из незаконного оборота оружия, в том числе похищенного в период январских событий.
- С начала года полицией изъято 664 единицы различного оружия, 54 гранаты и порядка 8 тысяч боеприпасов.
В целом благодаря принятым мерам за последние три года найдено и изъято 8 541 единица различного оружия, а также 870 гранат и 118 246 боеприпасов.
Кроме того, в ходе оперативных мероприятий в разных регионах страны удалось обнаружить 772 схрона, в которых хранилось 2 316 единиц оружия.
На сегодня достоверно установлено принадлежность 1 263 единиц оружия, похищенного в период январских событий.
По остальным изъятым 7 278 единицам оружия злоумышленниками умышленно уничтожены и стерты регистрационные номера, в связи с чем по ним в настоящее время назначены соответствующие экспертизы на предмет их идентификации.

Cadets of the 110th training group took part in the "Be a messenger of good deeds" campaign, dedicated to the Day of Mercy, and helped veteran of the Great Patriotic War Viktor Andreevich Sheludyakov by clearing his yard of snow. During the meeting, Viktor Andreevich told the children about everyday life at the front, the difficulties of wartime and the importance of mutual assistance. His stories became a real lesson in courage for the cadets and reminded them of the feat of the older generation, thanks to which we live under a peaceful sky.
Such events are not just help for veterans, but also an important step in educating future police officers, developing respect for history, caring for the older generation and readiness to help in any situation.

The Interior Ministry recalled the need to register mopeds.
- Dear citizens! We remind you that there are only a little more than two weeks left to register the mopeds. After April 5, driving an unregistered moped will be considered a violation of the law. In case of detection of such an offense, liability is provided for in accordance with part 2 of Article 590 of the Administrative Code. Currently, 8,527 mopeds are registered in the republic. To register, you need to contact the Special Center at your place of residence. You must have identification documents with you, and you can provide a technical passport or information about the technical characteristics of the moped in electronic form. Fill out the application. Inspect the moped. Pay state fees for vehicle registration, issuance of a registration certificate and license plate. Do not delay registration! Take care of the compliance of your moped with the requirements of the law in advance to avoid "unpleasant consequences," said the head of the department, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Shyngys Alekeshev.
