Murat Dzhambulovich Akhmetov was born in 1967 in the Pavlodar region.
In 1991, he graduated with honours from S.M. Kirov Kazakh State University.
He is a Candidate in Legal Sciences (2000).
He was awarded the II degree “Aibyn” Order.
He began his service in the prosecutor’s office in July 1991 as an investigator and a senior investigator of the prosecutor’s office of the Ilyichevsk district of the city of Pavlodar.
From 1993 to 1996, he served as an investigator and a senior investigator in investigating especially dangerous crimes in the Pavlodar region’s prosecutor’s office.
From 1997 to 1998, he served as the Deputy Head of the Department for supervision over the legality of operative-search activities, investigation and preliminary enquiry of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Pavlodar region.
From January 1998, he served as a Prosecutor of the Industrial District of the city of Pavlodar.
From May 1999 to June 2003, he served as the Pavlodar city prosecutor.
From 2003 to 2005, he served as the Deputy Prosecutor of the Pavlodar region.
From April 2005, he served as the Head of the Department for Supervision over the legality of the operative-search activities of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From 2007 to 2009, he served as the First Deputy Prosecutor of Astana city.
From May 2009 to June 2012, he served as the prosecutor of the Karaganda region.
From 2012 to 2014, he served as the Deputy Prosecutor of the North Kazakhstan region.
From November 2014 to June 2016, he served as the Head of the Department of the Civil Service Affairs and Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the South Kazakhstan region.
From 2016 to 2019, he worked as the Advisor to the Rector of the University of KAZGUU, Astana city.
From January 2019, he served as the Deputy Head of the Department of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the Mangistau region.
From 2019 to 2020, he served as the Deputy Head of the 4th Department of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From April 2020 to August 2021, he served as the Head of the 1st Department for investigation of cases in the sphere of public administration, area control and methodological work of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From 2021 to 2022, he served as the Head of the Department of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Almaty city.
From May to August 2022, he served as the Head of the 1st Service of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
By order of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated August 2, 2022, he was appointed as the Head of the Service for supervision over the legality of sentences entered into force and their execution (2nd Service).
