By decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 17 of June 17, 2019, the Ministry of trade and integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been assigned the functions and powers to protect consumer rights. In order to implement this decree, the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan established the Committee for consumer protection by Resolution No. 497 of July 10, 2019.
The main mission of the Committee is to form a coherent and effective policy in the field of consumer protection(Regulations on the Committee and its territorial divisions, approved by the order of the acting Minister of trade and integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 25, 2019 No. 7).
The Committee has two main tasks:
1) implementation of intersectoral coordination of the activities of state bodies to ensure the implementation of state policy in the field of consumer protection;
2) ensuring the implementation of state policy in the field of consumer protection.
The Committee has 17 territorial departments in the regions, with a staff of 50 units (12 units – the Central office, 38 units – territorial departments).
