Nur-Sultan, May 27, 2022 – Today marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Estonia.
On a remarkable date, a meeting was held between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko and the Ambassador of Estonia to Kazakhstan Toomas Tirs. During the conversation, satisfaction was expressed that during this period close ties have been established at all levels of the executive and legislative branches of power. Cooperation between the countries has developed rapidly and turned into a mutually beneficial strategic partnership.
Kazakhstan and Estonia demonstrate a mutual interest in further expanding cooperation through regular political dialogue and the creation of a solid contractual and legal framework for bilateral relations. The parties carry out constructive interaction in the international arena by contributing to the strengthening of peace and global security.
Significant importance is attached to the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue. «Friendship groups» set up in the parliaments of both countries facilitate its progressive development.
Trade, economic and investment cooperation between the countries is systematically developing. According to the results of 2021, bilateral trade turnover reached 18.8 million US dollars, 73 enterprises with the participation of Estonian capital are registered in Kazakhstan.
A significant role in the development of trade and economic relations is played by the Kazakh-Estonian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, within which the parties held six meetings so far.
The priority area of interaction is the sphere of high technologies and digitalization, in which some positive results have been achieved and genuine mutual interest is noted.
Significant progress is noted in the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation. We can particularly mention interaction in the field of education, in particular the close partnership relations that have developed between the largest Kazakh and Estonian universities.
Expressing satisfaction with the progressive development of bilateral cooperation, the parties agreed to continue joint work on the entire spectrum of cooperation. In this regard, confidence is demonstrated in further strengthening the partnership in the interests of peace, security and stability for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
In connection with the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the foreign ministries of the two countries adopted a Joint Communiqué.
