Relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and New Zealand
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and New Zealand were established on May 12, 1992.
Since 2022, Mdm. Sara Walsh has been appointed as the Ambassador of New Zealand to the Republic of Kazakhstan with a residence in Moscow.
On October 21, 2022 Mr. Askar Kuttykadam, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Singapore was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to New Zealand concurrently.
On July 1, 2014, by order of Governor General of New Zealand J. Mateparae Mr. Nurlan Smagulov was appointed as the Honorary Consul of New Zealand in the Republic of Kazakhstan with his residence in Almaty.
On October 15, 2020 Mr. Bryan Ashley Johnson was appointed as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Auckland, New Zealand.
On June 15, 2022 Mdm. Sara Walsh presented Credentials to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.Tokayev.
The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and New Zealand in 2022 amounted to 6 million US dollars, including exports – 1.2 million USD, and imports amounted to 4.8 million USD.
The main import items from New Zealand to Kazakhstan are: wine; butter; flowers; fresh fruits; seeds, fruits and spores for sowing; chemical products; medical reagents; cosmetics; furniture; plastic products, vulcanized rubber and ferrous metals.
As of February 2023, more than 9 legal entities, branches and representative offices with New Zealand participation operate in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2005-2020 FDI inflow from New Zealand into the Republic of Kazakhstan totaled to 0.4 million USD.
