April 30, 1994 – Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia.
December 13, 1995 – Kazakhstan opened its Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
March 1997 – Saudi Arabia opened its Embassy in Kazakhstan.
December 28, 2007 – the Kazakh side opened its Consulate in Jeddah, which received the status of the Consulate General on August 5, 2019.
February 2023 – H.E. Mr. Faisal Al Qahtani appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
April 2024 – H.E. Mr. Madiyar Menilbekov appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the visit, the Head of State held bilateral meetings with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman, Secretary General of the OIC H.Taha, President of the Islamic Development Bank M.Al-Jasser, Governor of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) Y.Al-Rumayyan, Chairman of Ajlan & Bros Holding Group A.Al-Ajlan, and Chairman of ACWA Power M.Abunayyan. He also participated in an Investment Roundtable with representatives of the Saudi business community.
July 18-19, 2023 – Working visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.Tokayev, to Saudi Arabia to participate in the Central Asia-GCC Summit. On the sidelines of the summit, the Head of State held bilateral talks with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman, President of Tajikistan E.Rahmon, and the Crown Prince of Kuwait Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
December 3, 2024 – Working visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.Tokayev, to Saudi Arabia to participate in the “One Water Summit”. During the visit, the President of Kazakhstan met with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman, President of France E.Macron, and President of the World Bank A.Banga.

During the visit, he was received by the President of Kazakhstan K.Tokayev and held talks with the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, the Minister of Energy, the Minister of Trade and Integration, the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, as well as the heads of Samruk-Kazyna JSC and Kazatomprom JSC. The 5th meeting of the Kazakhstan-Saudi IGC and the Kazakhstan-Saudi Investment Forum were also held during the visit.
June 6, 2022 – Official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, to Kazakhstan. June 12-14, 2006 – the Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan, N.Abykayev, visited Saudi Arabia.
September 14-16, 2006 – a Saudi delegation headed by the Chairman of the Consultative Council of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Salih bin Abdullah al Humaid visited Kazakhstan to participate in the opening ceremony of the Senate building of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.
February 2012 – the Kazakh parliamentary delegation headed by the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan K.Mami participated in the 3rd Consultative Meeting of the speakers of the G20 countries in Riyadh.
September 25-26, 2014 – the Chairman of the Consultative Council of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Abdullah Al al-Sheikh, visited Astana, where the President of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev received him.
January 24, 2015 – the Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan, K.Tokayev, visited Saudi Arabia and conveyed to the new King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud a personal message from the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev expressing condolences on the death of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
December 8-9, 2017 – members of the “Kazakhstan-Saudi Arabia” inter-parliamentary friendship group of the Consultative Council of Saudi Arabia visited Astana. The delegation was headed by Ahmad al Ghamdi, the head of the friendship group with Kazakhstan.
September 23-24, 2019 – the Saudi delegation headed by the Chairman of the Consultative Council of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Abdullah Al al-Sheikh participated in the Meeting of Speakers of the Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments held in Nur-Sultan. During this visit, Sheikh Abdullah Al al-Sheikh was received by the First President of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev.
October 17-23, 2021 – Official visit of the Speaker of the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia, A.Al-Sheikh, to Kazakhstan. During the visit, he was received by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.Tokayev, who awarded him the Order of “Dostyk” (2nd Class) for his contribution to strengthening friendly relations between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia. He also held talks with the Chairman of the Senate and the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.
April 13-15, 2025 – Official visit of the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, M.Ashimbayev, to Saudi Arabia.
September 14-17, 2025 – Official visit of the Secretary General of the Muslim World League, Sheikh Mohammed Al-Issa, to Kazakhstan, as well as participation in the 8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. During the visit, M.Al-Issa was received by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.Tokayev, who awarded him the Order of “Dostyk” (1st Class) for his significant contribution to strengthening interfaith harmony worldwide and promoting Islamic civilization. He also held talks with the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
December 14-15, 2025 – Visit of a Member of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, D.Kydyrali, to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to participate in the events of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC).
Multilateral cooperation
The Kingdom supported Kazakhstan’s candidacy for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for 2017-2018, accession to the WTO, holding EXPO-2017, joined the Islamic Organization for Food Security established at the initiative of the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
