Kazakhstan Information Center "Abai" is located in the Academic Library of the University of Latvia - the oldest library in Latvia.
The grand opening of the Center took place in 2019.
The center bears the name of the great Kazakh poet, founder of national literature, humanist and educator Abai Kunanbaev (1845-1904).
The Center presents a variety of artistic, historical and popular science literature of modern Kazakh authors. A special place is occupied by the works of Abay in translations into Latvian, Russian and English.
Visitors to the Center have a good opportunity to get to know the rich and original culture, traditions and history of the Kazakh people, its origins and modern achievements.
Over the three years of the Center's work, a significant number of various events have been held in it - exhibitions, round tables, poetry evenings, meetings of representatives of the Kazakh diaspora and students.
The head of the Center is the Director of the Academic Library of the University of Latvia, Doctor of Philology Venta Kocere, who was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for her contribution to the development of cultural ties between the two countries and the popularization of Abai's work in Latvia.
The doors of the Kazakhstan Information Center "Abai" are open to everyone.
