Saudi Arabia was among the first Arab and Muslim countries to recognize the independence of Kazakhstan on December 30, 1991.
April 30, 1994 – diplomatic relations were established.
December 13, 1995 – the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan was opened in Riyadh.
March 1997 – the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was opened in Astana.
Since December 28, 2007, the Consulate of Kazakhstan has been operating in Jeddah, which was granted the status of a General Consulate on August 5, 2019.
Since April 2024, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Saudi Arabia is Mr.Madiyar Menilbekov.
Since March 2023, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Kazakhstan is Mr. Faisal Al-Kahtani.
Since August 2022, the Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Jeddah is Mr.Ruslan Kospanov.

Air Connectivity
In 2022, "SCAT" Airlines resumed direct flights on the route "Almaty-Jeddah" and launched new direct flights on the routes "Almaty-Medina," "Shymkent-Jeddah," and "Shymkent-Medina" (frequency: twice a week).
Since November 2023, the Saudi airline "Flynas" and "Air Astana" launched regular flights on the route "Almaty-Jeddah-Almaty" (frequency: twice a week).
From October 2024, "Air Astana" launched regular flights on the routes "Almaty-Medina," "Shymkent-Jeddah," and "Shymkent-Medina."
