The consular institution of the Republic of Kazakhstan carries out the functions of protecting the rights and interests of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan abroad and provides services to both Kazakhstani citizens and foreign nationals in accordance with the applicable regulations approved by the competent state authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Consular Charter of Kazakhstan, and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963, to which the Republic of Kazakhstan acceded in the spring of 1993.
