

ELECTORAL SYSTEM OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN
Citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan have the right to participate in the management of state Affairs directly and through their representatives, to apply personally, as well as to send individual and collective appeals to state bodies and local self-government bodies.
Citizens of the Republic have the right to vote and be elected to state and local self-government bodies, as well as to participate in national referendums.

Elections in the Republic are based on the free exercise by a citizen of the Republic of their right to vote and be elected.
Elections of the President, deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament and maslikhats, members of other local self-government bodies of the Republic are held on the basis of universal, equal and direct suffrage by secret ballot.
Participation of citizens of the Republic in elections is voluntary. No one has the right to force a citizen to participate or not participate in elections, or to restrict their expression of will.
State electoral bodies that organize the preparation and conduct of elections in the Republic Kazakhstan, are election commissions.
