
Within the framework of the Regional Ecological Summit 2026, currently taking place from April 22 to 24 in Astana, the heads of state of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan have adopted the Declaration on Regional Cooperation in the Field of Ecology and Sustainable Development, entitled “Ecological Solidarity of Central Asia.
” Through this step, the heads of state reaffirmed their commitment to intensify efforts in developing joint regional positions and solutions within multilateral ecological processes.
These include climate negotiations, glacier preservation, themountain agenda, biodiversity, chemical management, waste management, combating plastic pollution, improving air quality, addressing land degradation and desertification, as well aspromoting a consolidated position of Central Asian countries onkey international platforms.
This Declaration makes a significant contribution to strengthening partnership and mutual support among the countries of Central Asia, with the aim of ensuring ecological sustainability, inclusive economic growth, and a sustainablefuture for present and future generations.
