On March 4-5, 2025, Almaty will host a significant international event — the ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Workshop on Gender Equality and Empowering Women in Aviation.
The event will be opened by Nicolas Rallo, the ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Director the International Civil Aviation Organization, which includes 56 States in the region (out of 193 ICAO member countries).
The ICAO EUR/NAT Workshop is focused on addressing gender equality issues in aviation by creating equal opportunities and supporting a new generation of aviation professionals.
The event will provide an opportunity for sharing best practices and experiences, as well as developing strategies to increase the participation of women in aviation. This will be based on practical cases presented by esteemed world-class experts, who will not only share their vision for solving gender equality issues but also offer valuable recommendations for further applying potential and knowledge in this field.
The workshop’s goal is to strengthen women's rights and provide equal opportunities for career growth and development, contributing to the creation of a more inclusive, efficient, and innovative aviation industry.

Passport and visa requirements in Kazakhstan
Foreign guests enter and leave the Republic of Kazakhstan through checkpoints at the state border using passports or documents replacing them and they should have Kazakhstan visas, if required. You can find out more detailed information about the visa regime for foreign citizens by clicking here.
Visa-free regime:
Citizens of many countries do not require a visa to visit Kazakhstan for up to 30 days. A complete list of visa-free countries can be found on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan or clarified at the Embassy/Consulate of Kazakhstan in your country.
E-visa:
For citizens of certain countries an electronic visa (e-visa) is available, which can be obtained online. This is a convenient option for those, who planning their trip in advance. More details on Visa-migration portal of the Republic of Kazakhstan
Visa on arrival:
In some cases, for example, for citizens of countries that do not have a visa-free regime and do not have the opportunity to apply for an electronic visa, a visa can be issued upon arrival at Almaty airport. However, it is recommended to clarify this information in advance with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to avoid unforeseen situations.
Money, Exchange Rates
The national currency in Kazakhstan is the tenge (KZT). Goods and services must be paid for in tenge. It's recommended to exchange US dollars, Euros or other currencies at banks or official exchange offices for better rates. ATMs are widely available throughout the city. Bank cards (Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, American Express) are accepted in most urban areas, but cash is advisable for travel outside cities. Amounts exceeding 10,000 USD must be declared at customs, except for cash from/to Eurasian Customs Union member states. You can always find the current exchange rates by following the link.
Languages in Kazakhstan
The official language of Kazakhstan is Kazakh. Russian is also used in state organizations and local governments, alongside Kazakh. 80-90% of the population is fluent in Russian. Almost all employees of travel agencies, hotels, restaurants and shops in major cities speak English.
Weather in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan has a sharply continental climate, with cold winters (ranging from -4°C to -19°C in January) and hot summers (ranging from +19°C to +26°C in July). The average air temperature in Almaty in March is +3.4°C. According to the forecast, the weather during the seminar is expected to be between +5°C and +7°C, with no precipitation. Light cloud cover is possible. We recommend considering the weather conditions when planning your visit.
Plugs
Kazakhstan uses European standard sockets (C, E, F types) with 220 Volt/50 Hz. Most European travelers (except UK) and travelers from India, Turkey, Tunis won't need adapters. Travelers from the USA, Japan and other countries with different standards should bring adapters. If forgotten, charging points with various plugs are available at major airports. Adapters can also be purchased at electronics stores throughout the city.
