In 1966, the Regional Philharmonic named after N. Zhanturin was opened. In the same year, a regional children's library was opened.
In 1968, the ensemble "Atyrau-Zhaiyk" was created in the philharmonic society.
In 1976, on July 13, the regional youth library was opened.
In 1990, the Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments named after D. Nurpeisova was organized.
In 1992, on April 2, the Atyrau Regional Museum of Art and Decorative-Applied Arts was opened.
In the same year, on May 5, by the decision of the regional akimiyat No. 116, an institution for the protection of cultural monuments was opened.
In 1996-2000, 50 km from the modern city of Atyrau, on the right bank of the Zhaiyk River, the ruins of the once majestic and famous city of Saraidzhuk have been preserved. In the course of archaeological research, three stages of the city's life were identified, the early stage fell on the first decades of its existence.
In 1999, to continue the study of the history of the city of Saraichik XI-XVII centuries, the museum-reserve "Khan Ordaly Saraichik" was opened.
In the same year, during archaeological work in the Zhylyoy district, 6 km. from the village of Akmeshit, the "Golden Man" of the Sarmatian times was found.
2000 was declared the "Year of Culture"by the President of the country N.A. Nazarbayev. In this regard, a cultural institution was reopened in the region.
A brass band was created on the basis of the Philharmonic.
In 2001, by the decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the regional library was named after the writer G. Slanov.
In 2003, within the framework of UNESCO, the 200th anniversary of the great akyn-improviser, batyr Makhambet Utemisov was celebrated.
In 2004, the Cultural Heritage program was adopted to study the history of past centuries.
In 2005, in honor of the 175th anniversary of the great composer Kurmangazy, a cultural center was opened in the village of Altynzhar, Astrakhan region.
The Atyrau Regional Museum of Arts and Crafts was named after the artist Shaimardan Sariyev.

In 2009, a new building of the regional scientific and universal library named after G. Slanov was built in Atyrau. In 2010, in the city of Kulsary, Zhylyoy district, a new building, the House of Culture, was built. According to the "Action Plan", major repairs were carried out to houses of culture in the village of Koktogay, Inder district and in the village of Kh.Yergaliyev, Isatay district.
In 2011, the days of Atyrau culture were held in Astana for the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence. In the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation, the mausoleum was solemnly opened to the founder of the Bukey Horde, one of the Kazakh khans, Bukey Khan. The Kazakh Academic Orchestra named after D. Nurpeisova took part in the festivals "Days of Kazakhstan in Turkey" dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence.
In 2012, in the village of Zharsuat, Inder district, the "Letters-Memorial Museum of Makhambet Utemisuly" was created
Participants of amateur performances of the Atyrau region took the 3rd place in the Republican television competition "Aimaktar Alamany", held in Astana.
Republican competitions of kyui-dombra players "Altyn Dombyra" named after A. Yesgaliyev, "Kui Kagan" named after R. Gabdiyev, Republican scientific symposium "Yeskertkishtanu" were organized.
In 2013, for the first time in the history of the country, the Republican Kui Kurmangazy Festival was held by the orchestra of 1000 musicians. This significant event was entered into the Book of Records of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2014, in the village of Akzhayik, Makhambet district, a cultural center with a capacity of 200 places was commissioned. Capital repairs were carried out in 8 cultural facilities under the Employment Action Plan-2020 program.
The Kazakh Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments named after D. Nurpeisova, having organized a "Euro-tour" across Europe, gave concerts in the cities of Manisa, Istanbul, Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Paris, Fonteblo. The creative team of the Zhanturin Regional Philharmonic Society gave concerts in Qatar, India (Delhi) and Russia (Ufa).

In 2015, the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate, the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the 20th anniversary of the Assembly of the Peoples of Kazakhstan, the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War were announced.
In the village of Akkystau, Isatay district, a culture house with a capacity of 400 places was commissioned. The cultural house of the village of Tushchykudyk has undergone major repairs.
A memorial wall was built on which the names of more than 25 thousand of our fellow countrymen who did not return from the Great Patriotic War and a monument to the participants in the Afghan war were carved. A monument to the laureate of the State Prize, akin Zhumeken Nazhimedenov, was built in Atyrau.
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, the Republican Aitys of Akyns "Urpakka Uran Bolgan Uly Zhenis" was organized.
The International Theater Festival of the Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, holder of the "Parasat" Order Rakhimzhan Otarbayev was held.
In 2016, for the 25th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the "Mega-Relay" project was implemented, in which all the settlements of the Atyrau region were covered. Within the framework of the Project, cultural events were held in all settlements.
This year, the 100th anniversary of the People's Writer Khamit Yergaliyev, the 225th anniversary of the People's Batyr Isatay Taimanuly were announced.
A monument to the Public figure, writer Fariza Ongarsynova was built in Atyrau.

In order to promote the works of local composers and search for talented, gifted young composers, the II regional competition of composers "Sezim Tolkyny" was held.
