Nauryz is a holiday that has been celebrated since ancient times. According to the modern calendar (March 22), it falls on the day of the vernal equinox. In Old Persian, nawa = new + razanh = day, meaning "new day", and in modern Persian, it has the same meaning (no = new + rouz = day; meaning "new day"), that is, it means "new year" (denoting the rising of the sun).
