Введение

Mandatory registry of pets has been introduced in Kazakhstan from September 2023. According to the law "About responsible treatment of animals", the requirement is cats and dogs microchip or tag implanted. The main purpose of the introduction is to invoke owners to treat their pets more humanely and responsibly, rather than throwing them out on the street or allowing them to be abused.

In this material, we will review how microchipping of pets is carried out in Kazakhstan.

What is microchipping?

A digital ecosystem has been created nowadays: the national electronic service with registry of animals has been launched such as Tanba, It-Cor, Rfid -x.kz, Vetuchet.kz.

The system has displayed along with statistics the other data such as animal name, breed, passport number, identification number, and vaccination and sterilization information.

Microchip implant manipulation will take a few seconds and is practically painless for the pets. A microchip can be implanted during a routine visit to the veterinary clinic. Next, the specialist enters all the information about the pet and its owner into a single database (address, name of the owner and contact information).

The innovation makes it possible to identify the animal more quickly and accurately if it gets into trouble or needs medical help.

What will happen if a pet microchip is not implanted?

The non-compliance with the law, namely the refuse or avoidance to enter a pet into the single registry database, there will be a fine of 10 MCI - for individuals and 30 MCI - for legal entities.

How is pet’s registry maintained?

State veterinary bodies established within the offices of mayor “akimats” are in charge of pet’s registry. In addition, individuals - private entrepreneurs and non-governmental organizations that provide therapeutic and preventive activities in the field of veterinary medicine are authorized to register pets.

The pet owner or responsible person will decide by himself on the choice of the registry item for his pet, while the means of the pet registry include boluses, microchips and other items.

The microchip service life is more than 20 years.
