MEETING WITH CHAIRMAN OF THE AGENCY FOR PROTECTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF COMPETITION MARAT OMAROV

The president was presented with a report on the competitive situation in the first half of this year and barriers to competition in the main commodity markets. 

              The head of state was informed about the interim results of antitrust investigations, measures taken to relieve the economy of monopolies and develop competition, as well as the issue of strengthening the role of the Antitrust Authority. Since the beginning of the year, 48 cases of violations of antimonopoly legislation have been investigated. 33 cases are also being investigated. At the same time, unfair market entities were fined more than 3.5 billion tenge. There are more than 40 antimonopoly cases under the jurisdiction of the court.

            At the end of the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to continue the implementation of comprehensive measures to de-monopolize key sectors of the country's economy and prepare additional proposals for the development of competition.
