TRANSTELECOM CALLED FOR THE TERMINATION OF CONTRACTS WITH COMPETITORS

The Department of the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the city of Astana, during the audit of the activities of Transtelecom JSC (hereinafter referred to as the Company) for the distribution of advertising material on the provision of 100% discount on Internet access services, subject to the transition from certain operators (Kazakhtelecom, Beeline, etc.), the Department detected signs of unfair competition, expressed in the appeal of the market entity to terminate the contract with a competitor.    

According to the information established as part of the consideration of the complaint by Alma Telecommunications Kazakhstan JSC, the Company distributed advertising material, according to which a discount of 100% is offered on Internet access services for a period of 4 months. A prerequisite is the transition from third-party operators (the presence of a contract or a receipt for payment for services for the last month).

By these actions, the Company violated the norms provided for in subparagraph 9) of paragraph 2 of Article 177, as well as Article 186, of the Entrepreneurial Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In this regard, the Company was notified of the need to take measures to eliminate signs of violation.

The notification has been executed by the Company. The promotion has been cancelled.
