The Supreme Judicial Council has held online seminars for lawyers on the issue of the disciplinary responsibility of judges As part of the implementation of the instruction of the Head of the State from October 1, 2024, a new mechanism was put into effect for the Judicial Jury at the Supreme Judicial Council to verify all the facts of gross violations of the rule of law committed by judges during considering court cases.

On the initiative of the Chairman of the Council, D. Malakhov, a series of online seminars was held for representatives of the Republican Bar Association and its territorial collegium in order to widely explain the procedure of applying the new mechanism and to ensure the openness of the judicial system.

More than 900 lawyers from all regions of the country took part in the events. During the seminars, the Chairman of the Judicial Jury N. Kayypzhan explained in detail the grounds for bringing judges to disciplinary responsibility, and also presented new approaches to the work of the Judicial Jury, formed by taking into account the latest legislative changes.

Special attention was paid to the specifics of the activities and powers of the Judicial Jury, the expansion of its composition and measures to ensure the legality and objectivity of disciplinary proceedings against judges. Also, the Secretary of the Judicial Jury K. Salimzhan explained in detail the new procedure for reviewing and verifying appeals from individuals and legal entities related to disagreement with the actions of judges. Following the results of the online seminars, comprehensive explanations were given to all the questions received.

Awareness-raising activities are aimed at increasing the legal awareness of the legal community, reducing public tension regarding the activities of judges and strengthening confidence in the judicial system.

Focus is made on the formation of a positive image of the judiciary as a guarantor of legality and justice. The Supreme Judicial Council will continue the interaction with the legal community in order to enhance further the openness, quality of justice and the authority of the judiciary.
