A regular meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held under the chairmanship of Dmitriy Malakhov

A number of organizational and personnel issues of the judicial system were discussed at the meeting.

Reports on the work of the Qualification Commission, the Judicial Jury, and the Personnel Reserve Commission under the Council for 2024 were heard, as well as the main changes in their activities in this year were announced.

The frequency of computer testing will be increased (6 times a year instead of 4), and meetings of the Qualification Commission will be held on a weekly basis (previously 1 time per month).

These novelties are aimed at improving the effectiveness of qualification exams for judicial positions and reaching a wide audience, which, in turn, will contribute to more prompt and efficient filling of judicial vacancies.

The Personnel Reserve Commission will form lists of the judicial personnel reserve twice a year (previously once a year).

The Judicial jury under the Council will continue its explanatory work regarding the new mechanism of checking all facts of gross violations of the law, carried out by the Judicial Jury.

During the meeting decisions on a number of personnel issues were adopted.

The submissions of the Chairman of the Supreme Court on the appointment of chairmen of regional courts were considered. Candidates are offered on an alternative basis.

In addition, the issues of the further tenure of judges who have reached retirement age, the appointment of judges without competition, as well as the dismissal of individual chairmen and judges of the courts of the republic were considered.

The Council gave consent to the Judicial Administration to redistribute judicial units between six local courts, that will optimize the workload of judges and will improve the quality of justice.
