During the mandatory technical inspection of the vehicle, the condition of the car is monitored, but the inspection of the electrical equipment and fuel system is not carried out. However, the main causes of a fire in a car are: a short circuit of the electrical conductors/electrical units of the engine, careless use of fire (heating the engine with a welding lamp, smoking, heating the engine compartment with felt), a break or malfunction of the fuel pipeline. Most often, this is due to non-compliance with the basic requirements of fire safety when operating a car.
What car owners should remember:
- each vehicle must be equipped with a serviceable fire extinguisher with a volume of at least 2 liters. In this case, you need to know the device of the fire extinguisher and be able to use it.
- maintenance of vehicle components and mechanisms in good condition;
- avoid charging batteries directly in vehicles.
If your car catches fire while driving, follow the following rules of behavior in the car during a fire:
1) stop the car.
2) turn off the engine.
3) release the Hood lock, but do not open the hood.
4) remove all passengers.
5) call the fire service by phone number "101" or the rescue service "112".
6) if it is not dangerous, try using a fire extinguisher that is available in the car.
7) when extinguishing a fire, do not use water in the engine compartment, as this may lead to a short circuit of the electrical wiring or the spread of burning gasoline and an increase in the combustion area.
