Stormy winds

Storm winds are one of the most common natural disasters. It should be borne in mind that in the wind (14-17 m/s), billboard installations installed along the streets, LED panels and banners on independent supports can be overturned. With a gale-force wind (up to 24 m/sec), trees may be felled, power lines may be cut off. Sparking of wires can lead to the occurrence of fires. With a strong storm wind (up to 28.4 m / sec), some destruction of buildings occurs, including roofs may be torn off houses, broken windows in windows. Rubble of broken trees and building structures can significantly block driveways and highways. With a hurricane-force wind (32m/sec or more), serious destruction of capital structures, contact networks of electric transport, power lines of utility and energy networks are noted.

It is necessary to know and implement general measures of safe behavior during strong winds:

Being in the house or in the apartment:

- close all the vents and windows, check the reliability of their closure;

- safe places in strong winds are places away from windows;

If a strong wind caught you on the street:

- immediately take shelter in an entrance or a solid building;

- you should not hide near the walls of houses, at public transport stops, near billboards, under trees, near unfinished buildings;

- do not approach broken wires, swinging signs, etc.;

- stay away from rotten and old, especially single-standing trees.

- do not park vehicles under trees, billboard structures, electrical wires;

- do not neglect the storm warning messages.

Refrain from traveling by private cars and staying on the street for a long time.
