Precautions for the feast of the Baptism of the Lord

Precautions for the feast of the Baptism of the Lord

On the night of January 18 to the 19th, the feast of the Epiphany of the Lord is celebrated, in which many residents of the district take part in Epiphany bathing.

In this regard, the DES of the Ulan district warns that if you still decide to take the rite of epiphany bathing, you should not neglect precautions:

- swim only in specially equipped and protected places, where, if necessary, you will be able to provide timely qualified assistance.

- before swimming in an ice hole, it is advisable to warm up the body by doing a warm-up, jogging;

- for safety, you need to wear flip-flops or socks before entering the hole;

- before diving, take a deep breath and, holding your breath, plunge into the water;

- jumping into the water and diving with your head is not recommended, because it increases heat loss and can lead to shock from the cold;

- it must be remembered that cold water can cause perfectly normal safe rapid breathing;

- if you have a child with you, keep an eye on him during his immersion in the ice hole;

- it is desirable that at the exit from the ice hole someone met the swimmer with a towel and a bathrobe;

- after bathing, you need to rub yourself and the child with a terry towel and put on dry clothes;

- for prevention after bathing, it is useful to drink hot tea, preferably from medicinal herbs, berries and fruits.

- it is dangerous to take part in Epiphany bathing: for children and people who have no experience of hardening, elderly people and with weakened health, people in a drunken state and with a hangover syndrome.

- it is dangerous to stay in the hole for more than 1 minute in order to avoid general hypothermia of the body.
